Huckaback.

Flat-woven textured weave — the classic gym, spa, and glass-towel construction.

What it is

Huckaback (or just huck) is a flat-woven weave with alternating short warp and weft floats that produce a pebbled, dimpled surface. It is thinner and lighter than terry but surprisingly absorbent thanks to the broken-float texture that breaks water tension on contact. In hospitality it shows up in gym towels, spa linen, and premium barber-shop towelling.

How it’s made

Construction

The weave is built on a dobby loom with a repeating sequence of floats and plain-weave interlacings. The floats sit slightly raised, creating the micro-texture. Cotton and linen both weave well in huck; linen-huck is the traditional European glass-towel construction.
