Home/Fabrics & Weaves/Percale

Bed200 – 400 TC

Percale.

Plain 1-over-1 bedding weave with ≥180 TC — crisp, cool, classic hotel sheeting.

What it is

Percale is a tightly-woven 1×1 plain-weave fabric with a minimum of 180 threads per square inch. Its symmetry gives it a crisp, cool, matte hand that reads as classic hotel bedding. It is the default specification for four- and five-star flat sheets and duvet covers in warm and mixed climates.

How it’s made

Construction

Each weft yarn passes over one warp and under the next, evenly, in a balanced grid. The high thread density closes the weave tightly, giving percale its characteristic snap and durability. Combed long-staple cotton yields a smoother, more durable percale than carded short-staple cotton at the same thread count.
