Home/Fabrics & Weaves/Satin Stripe

Bed300 – 500 TC

Satin Stripe.

Sateen ground with tone-on-tone woven stripes — the premium-chain hotel signature.

What it is

Satin stripe is a sateen-ground bedding fabric with tone-on-tone woven stripes; the alternating floats produce a subtle shine pattern without any colour change. It is the most recognisable premium-chain bed aesthetic worldwide: Marriott Luxury Collection, Hilton Premier, Hyatt Park, Four Seasons, and most luxury cruise-line bedding specifies some form of satin stripe.

How it’s made

Construction

The fabric alternates bands of sateen and reversed-sateen weave structure in the warp direction, typically in 1 cm to 3 cm stripe widths. All yarn is the same colour, usually white, so the stripe is only visible by how light reflects off the opposing floats. Some variants alternate sateen-and-percale bands for a contrasting matte-and-sheen effect.
