Raised-cord textured weave — the signature of spa robes and polo hospitality uniforms.
What it is
Piqué is a medium-weight fabric with a distinctive raised parallel-cord or diamond texture. It has just enough structure to hold shape without looking stiff, which is why it is the default weave for spa robes, polo-style hotel uniforms, and upmarket bedspread panels. The texture also aids moisture management versus plain weaves.
How it’s made
Classic piqué is woven on a dobby loom where a stuffer warp sits under the face yarns, forced up to create parallel raised ribs. Variants include cord piqué (parallel ribs), waffle piqué (diamond cells), and bird's-eye (tiny diamond pips). Knitted piqué, used for polo shirts, is a weft-knit variant with the same visual identity.
